Flying the Horten Ho 229
Like its full size counterpart, the model Ho 229 flies fast. The airframe has very little drag. The wing area is generous. This makes for relatively light wing loading.
ADVISORIES
- This is a challenging project for experienced builders and flyers only. Some experience with delta or highly swept wings (preferably all-wing designs) is helpful.
- For stability, extension tubes on the exhausts are required unless vectored thrust is used.
- For the first flights, a large field will be required. It should be 300 yards (275 meters) long at least, 200 yards (185 meters) if you have a clear approach path (no trees).
